Trinidad and Tobago is all set to host “National Youth Awards 2023” under the theme- Celebrating the excellence of T&T’s Youth. The awards will be held on 14 August 2023.

Trinidad and Tobago: Trinidad and Tobago is all set to host “National Youth Awards 2023” under the theme- Celebrating the excellence of T&T’s Youth. The awards will be held on 14 August 2023.

The Awards recognize the youth of Trinidad and Tobago who have excelled in their fields and have positively contributed to the development of Trinidad and Tobago.

Nomination Deadline: 13 August 2023

The Ministry of Youth Development and National Service of Trinidad and Tobago also announced the different categories of awards.

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS: 10 TO 17 YEARS AND 18 TO 35 YEARS

  • Agriculture: Promoting sustainable agricultural practices, demonstrating significant progress through agricultural pursuits.
  • Arts and Culture: Excellence in representing and promoting the performing arts through song, dance, monologue, drama, spoken word, music, entertainment and art and craft.
  • Youthful Resilience: Overcoming exceptional challenges (family circumstances, geographical location, mental and physical health), while making an important contribution to society.
  • Entrepreneurship: Establishing and operating successfully, a creative and innovative business.
  • Leadership and Advocacy: Advocating, promoting and implementing group activities in the interest of empowering young persons, through youth development initiatives and activism.
  • Learning and Academia: Excelling in the field of education and utilizing this excellence to contribute to the learning and academic development of the community/Trinidad and Tobago (T&T).
  • Social Media Influencer: Utilizing social media platforms to influence and advocate for positive youth development.
  • Sport: Utilizing sport for self-improvement, achieving excellence and encouraging others to excel in sport to impact the community/T&T.

INDIVIDUAL OPEN AWARDS: 10 TO 18 YEARS

  • Health and Wellness: Creatively practising and advocating for the ideals of health and wellness.
  • Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM): Achieving excellence in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) and utilizing achievements to positively impact the lives of the community/T&T.
  • Technical Vocational Skills: Excelling in the field of technical vocational skills training and utilizing this excellence to motivate others in their community/T&T.
  • Youth Service and Humanitarianism: Excelling in service and humanitarianism by advocating, promoting, organizing and managing volunteerism, social justice, advocacy and humanitarian acts through an organization led by or primarily comprised of youth.

GROUP AWARDS:

Arts and Culture: Excellence in representing and promoting the performing arts through song, dance, monologue, drama, spoken word, music, entertainment and art and craft.

Environmental, Sustainability and Preservation: Practising and advocating the ideals of environmental sustainability and preservation.

Outstanding Youth Organization: A well-operating organization that is consistently encouraging and implementing youth development activities and programmes, while positively impacting young persons

Model Youth Development Programme: Demonstrating excellence in a programme or project that through its design and implementation has positively impacted on youth/youth issues and youth development work across T&T.

Youth Service and Humanitarianism:  Excelling in service and humanitarianism by advocating, promoting, organizing and managing volunteerism, social justice, advocacy and humanitarian acts through an organization led by or primarily comprised of youth.

SPECIAL AWARDS:

  • Youth Mentor and Advocate (Over 35 years): Advocating for youth needs, concerns and aspirations within various contexts, including policy-making, community development, education and social justice, ensuring that the voices and rights of young people are recognized, respected and taken into consideration.
  • Champion of Youth Causes- Corporate: Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) supporting and encouraging youth advocacy and development in T&T.
