
Castries, Saint Lucia: The 2023 Saint Lucia Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Secondary Schools 50 Over Cricket Tournament continued on Monday, March 13, with four matches.
Victories were recorded for Corinth Secondary over Babonneau, Entrepot Secondary over Patricia D. James Secondary, Grande Riviere Secondary over Micoud Secondary and Vieux Fort Comprehensive over Piaye Secondary of Saint Lucia.
RESULT: CORINTH SECONDARY DEFEATED BABONNEAU SECONDARY BY 5 WICKETS.
At the Gros Islet Playing Field of Saint Lucia, Corinth Secondary earned themselves a five wicket victory over Babonneau Secondary. Babonneau Secondary, after winning the toss and electing to bat, was bowled out for 84 in 17.1 overs, with Jeankime Nelson and Joshua Norley making 15 each and Cleton Amedee 12 not out.
Bowling for Corinth Secondary, Jaheem Simon with impressive bowling figures of 5 for 35 in 5 overs, Jaedon Khodra 3 for 18 in 3 overs and Neil Poyotte 2 for 23 in 3.1 overs.
In reply, Corinth Secondary got to their target, finishing on 86 for 5 in 8.2 overs. Jeandell Cyril was Corinth Secondary’s top scorer with 26.
RESULT: PATRICIA D. JAMES DEFEATED ENTREPOT SECONDARY BY 24 RUNS.
At the Mindoo Phillip Park of Saint Lucia, Patricia D. James Secondary earned a hard-fought 24-run victory over Entrepot Secondary. Batting first, Patricia D. James Secondary was dismissed for 157 in 35.1 overs, with Mekhi Stanislaus top scoring with 44, Sergio Sydney 22, Danic Edward 13 and Kurthan Stephen 12.
The wicket takers for Entrepot Secondary were; Zaida James with 2 for 17 in 7.1 overs, Joshua Cepal with 2 for 21 in 5 overs, Tristan Felix with 2 for 41 in 5 overs and one wicket each to Jade Charles, J’Quan Jules and Shervonique Cox.
In reply, Entrepot Secondary was bowled out for 123 in 17.3 overs, with Joshua Cepal making a well-played 67, inclusive of 11 fours and 1 six and Zaida James 10.
The wicket takers for Patricia D. James were; Lebron Thomas with 3 for 6 in 3 overs, Danic Edward with 2 for 10 in 1.3 overs, Mekhi Stanislaus with 2 for 30 in 5 overs and 1 wicket to Sergio Sydney.
RESULT: GRANDE RIVIERE SECONDARY DEFEATED CORINTH SECONDARY BY 6 RUNS.
At the Wenn Playing Field of Saint Lucia, in a low-scoring match, Grande Riviere Secondary registered a 6-run victory over Micoud Secondary. Batting first, Grande Riviere Secondary was dismissed for 45 in 13.1 overs, with Isaiah Sullivan making 15 not out.
The wicket takers for Micoud Secondary were Seth Reneau with stand-out figures of 8 for 10 in 6.1 overs and Alexus Charles with 1 for 14 in 4 overs. Set a modest target of 46 for victory, Micoud Secondary was bowled out for 39 in 9.2 overs, with Alexus Charles; 12, the only batsman to reach double figures.
Doing the damage with the ball for Grande Riviere Secondary were Rohan James with 5 for 25 in 4.2 overs and Giovanni Alexander; 4 for 14 in 5 overs.
RESULT: VIEUX FORT COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY DEFEATED PIAYE SECONDARY BY 8 WICKETS.
At the Piaye Playing Field of Saint Lucia, Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School completed a comfortable 8 wicket victory over Piaye Secondary.
Piaye Secondary, batting first was dismissed for 137 in 23.4 overs, with Alex Samuel making 49, Christopher Montoute 19 and Khalil St. Hill 12. The wicket takers for Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary were; Garette Alphonse, Deandre Napoleon, Tashawn Walter and Kaylan Neptune with 2 wickets each.
In reply, Vieux Fort Comprehensive got to their target, finishing on 138 for 2 in 11.3 overs, with Josan James making 52 not out, David Naitram making 31 and Kamanie Laure 29. Khalil St. Hill was Piaye Secondary’s lone wicket-taker with 1 for 21 in 3 overs.
