Castries, Saint Lucia: Edward Blasters secured victory against Goodman Warriors in the 2023 Gros Islet Domestic Cricket match on Sunday, February 5, 2023.
The 2023 Gros Islet Domestic Cricket Tournament sponsored by District Representative Kenson Casimir, continued on Sunday, February 5, with a 50 over a side game between GOODMAN WARRIORS and EDWARD BLASTERS at the Gros Islet Playing Field.
During the course of the game, the tournament’s sponsor and District Representative, Kenson Casimir, took some time to take in some of the action and also took the opportunity to meet with the two teams on show.
The Gros Islet Cricket Association truly appreciate the Minister’s presence and continuous support of cricket in Gros Islet. In on-field action, EDWARD BLASTERS defeated GOODMAN WARRIORS in an exciting match by six runs.
EDWARD BLASTERS batting first was dismissed for 224 in 37.3 overs, with captain Tarrique Edward making 42, Stuart Calderon 34, Darvin Forde 26 not out, Kymani Sexius 25, 18 each to Stephen Naitram and Stavone Gabriel and 11 to Jeandel Cyril.
The wicket takers for GOODMAN WARRIORS were; Lee John with 3 for 21 in 8 overs, Kevin Gassie 3 for 25 in 5.3 overs and 1 wicket each to Zayee Antoine, Leon Alexander and captain; Jard Goodman.
In reply, GOODMAN WARRIORS was dismissed for 218 in 34.4 overs, with Noelle Leo making a well played 87, inclusive of 11 fours and 3 sixes, Qwaine Henry 35, captain Jard Goodman 30 and Denzel Albert 18.
The wicket takers for EDWARD BLASTERS were; Stuart Calderon with 3 for 18 in 4 overs, Aaron Joseph 2 for 20 in 5 overs, Tarrique Edward 2 for 56 in 9 overs and 1 wicket each to Caleb Thomas and Stavone Gabriel.
The Man of the Match award was given to STUART CALDERON for making 34 with the bat and picking up 3 very crucial wickets to ensure victory for his team.
The tournament continues with a number of 20/20 matches in the upcoming week. On Tuesday February 7 with MELIUS CHALLENGERS coming up against GOODMAN WARRIORS from 6:00pm at the Gros Islet Playing Field.
On Wednesday February 8, it will be GERSON STRIKERS and EDWARD BLASTERS locked in battle.
