Elections 2022: St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party sweeps to victory with clear majority in 6 constituencies

Notably, St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party will form the government for the first time under the leadership of Dr Terrance Drew, who is going to be the new prime minister of the Federation.

Basseterre: St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party stormed into power in the twin-island Federation, snatching the nation from the ruling People’s Labour Party. In the 11- member parliament, a party needs to get six seats to form the government, and the results have shown a clear majority of 6 constituencies for the SKNLP. 

Notably, St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party will form the government for the first time under the leadership of Dr Terrance Drew, who is going to be the new prime minister of the Federation. 

By securing a clean sweep victory, St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party gained 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 St Kitts constituencies with incredible numbers. 

On the other hand, the People’s Labour Party managed to win one only seat in constituency #7 bagged by Dr Timothy Harris. On the same breadth, the People’s Action Movement also won one seat by Shawn K Richards from constituency#8. 

Besides this, Nevis was swept by the Concerned Citizens Movement as their three candidates managed to gain landslide victory in constituencies 9, 10, and 11.

  • Constituency # 1: 

With 1571 votes, Dr Geoffery Hanley of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party won in Constituency 1.

  • Constituency #2: 

SKNLP candidate Marsha Henderson won with 1841 votes, while PAM Candidate Jonel Powell received 737 votes and PLP Candidate Nubian Greaux received 707 votes. 

  • Constituency #3: 

Konris Maynard of SKNLP received 1,747 votes out of 2,788 total votes polled. Incumbent Akila Byron-Nisbett of PLP faced a clear defeat as she only managed 720 votes. On the other hand, PAM candidate Kervin Freeman received 300 votes. 

  • Constituency #4: 

St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party candidate Samal Duggins has been announced the winner of Constituency 4. He secured a landslide victory with 1269 votes out of 2343 votes. 

  • Constituency #5: 

Shawn Richards of People’s Action Movement won with 1,025 votes out of 2358 votes, defeating Kenneth Douglas of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, who received 825 votes. PLP candidate Stachio Williams received only 243 votes.

  • Constituency #6: 

Former Political Leader and Ex-PM Dr Denzil Douglas made a landslide victory on his seat with 1926 votes. Out of 2399 votes, PLP candidate Dr Marc Williams received 309 votes and Troy Flanders of PAM received 98 votes.

  • Constituency #7: 

Dr Timothy Harris of People’s Labour Party claims landslide victory with 1266 votes. Out of 2358 votes, Lincoln David- Pelle of People’s Action Movement receives 176 votes while, Leon Natta Nelson of St Kitts Nevis Labour Party receives 903 votes. 

  • Constituency #8: 

Dr Terrance Drew of St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party secures constituency 8 with 2950 votes. While People’s Labour Party candidate Andrew Bass receives 761 and Chesley Hamilton receives 895 votes. 

  • Nevis Constituency #9: 

The seat has been secured by Mark Brantley of CCM with 1685 votes. With this massive victory out of the 3074 valid votes, Mark Brantley once again become the parliamentary representative of constituency 9.   

He secured victory by defeating Nevis Reformation Party’s candidate- Dr Patricia Bartlette, who received 1279 votes. 

  • Nevis Constituency #10: 

Eric Evelyn of Concerned Citizens Movement becomes parliamentary representative from Constituency 10. He secured the landslide victory with 616 votes. Constituency 10 witnessed 845 total votes. He defeated his incumbent Rohan Isles candidate of the Nevis Reformation Party, who received 229 votes. 

  • Nevis Constituency #11: 

Alexis Jeffers of Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) jumped to victory in the last rounds with 1172 votes; meanwhile, NRP candidate Dr Janice Daniel-Hodge received 1113 votes.Â
