St Kitts and Nevis: St Kitts‘ Medical Staff at the JN France General Hospital, Dr Cameron Wilkinson, has confirmed that the nation is suffering from the Fourth Wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Wilkinson wrote in his Facebook post that the fourth wave has come, and the cases of Covid-19 are rising again.
“The fourth wave is here, and the numbers are rising again, but residents should not be surprised as we have already warned,” he stated in the post.
He further asserted that the cases of coronavirus pandemic would rise continuously in the coming few weeks. The number of casualties will eventually increase due to the fourth wave.
While urging the general public to get vaccinated,” Dr Wilkinson said”, the clinics are always open for vaccination. Come out of home and get vaccinated as it is the best protection available against the deadliest virus. With getting fully immunised, you will protect yourself as well as those around you”.
While suggesting the benefits of good health, he said,” The good public health will benefit our surroundings, and we should make good efforts to maintain it”.
He said that people who have taken their required jab and are fully inoculated could also test positive; though, they are comparatively at lower risk than those who are partially or not vaccinated.
Dr Wilkinson further emphasised that Vaccine is the best protection against severe disease, hospitalisation and death. “Be aware as we are not helpless and don’t hesitate. Go out and get fully vaccinated,” said Wilkinson.
By providing the vaccination data, he claimed that in St Kitts and Nevis, more than 81 percent of the adult population is vaccinated. He advised the parents to make their children who are over 12 vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine.
He said,” Vaccine is significant to combat the deadly virus that has killed over 5.41 million so far in just two years”.
Dr Wilkinson further asserted,” The death rate in the nation will rise if not get vaccinated. So, wear a mask and follow necessary protocols to combat the viral infection.”
