Dominica: Prime Minister of Dominica Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit visited majestic Victoria Falls in Delices for invigorating hiking.
PM said, “I took an invigorating hike to the majestic Victoria Falls in Delices, where I enjoyed a refreshing bath.”
He added,” Though traveling out of Dominica may be challenging right now, there are several local sites and trails which you can visit or hike to, of course in a responsible manner.”
In his short visit, he engaged with the area’s local residents, including a Rastafarian Moses James.
PM said,” On my visit to Delices today along with my friend Hon Kent Edwards, I visited my dear Rastafarian brethren Mr. Moses James who is a descendent of our runaway slaves.”
The Dominican Prime Minister added that the land Moses James’ ancestral land was taken away from his father by the state in 1971, but the government under the administration of the Dominica Labour Party ensured the return of his property.
He noted that what was done years ago was wrong, and the land was returned to the James family to pay homage to the runaway slaves and correct an injustice. I thought I would share with you my interaction with Moses James.”
Victoria Falls are one of the most beautiful waterfalls on the island of Dominica and probably the largest one by the water flow.
The Fame & Mystery of Victoria Falls starts with the Riviére Blanche (White River) itself. Falling over the cliff water originates up in the mountains in the mysterious Boiling Lake makes it very special right away. The waterfall drops approximately 200 feet (61m) down to the sizeable milky-white pool.
It is an excellent place to relax, although the water is not that much warm as it could be expected given its “boiling” source up in the mountains. Surrounding nature: steep cliffs screened by ferns, vines, and long braids of roots hanging down the slopes, and a mist of water spray adds the extra charm making this secluded place a real gem on the island of Dominica.
