Dominica witnesses sudden hike in COVID infections, reports 132 new cases

As of Monday, May 9, 2022, out of the total cases, 131 samples have been processed with the testing facility named Antigen, while one sample was processed with a PCR test.

Roseau, Dominica: After experiencing a sudden surge in the cases of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ministry of Health, Wellness and New Health Investment confirmed the 132 new cases in Dominica. 

As of Monday, May 9, 2022, out of the total cases, 131 samples have been processed with the testing facility named Antigen, while one sample was processed with a PCR test. 

Ministry of Health stated that the number of discharges of the COVID-19 pandemic stood at 175. 

However, with the emergence of the new cases of the novel coronavirus, the active cases have reached 299. 

As per the statistics of the death related to the viral infection of the COVID-19 pandemic, a total of 63 people have lost their lives due to the deadly pandemic. 

On the other hand, the ministry of Health, wellness and new health investment of Dominica also gave an update on the recoveries related to the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 12323 people have recovered from the viral illness since the pandemic has begun in the country. 

Further, with the coming of the new cases of the COVID-19 pandemic, the toll of the confirmed cases of the SARS-CoV-2 reached 194894. Out of the confirmed cases, the number of samples that have been processed with the PCR test is 37470. On the other hand, the total of samples that have been processed with the Antigen testing facility stood at 157424. 

As per the statistics of the vaccination drive on the nature island, a total of 32627 people have received the first dose of the vaccine against the COVID-19 pandemic. 

On the other hand, the number of citizens who have received the second dose of the novel coronavirus vaccine stood at 30236. 

As per the statistics on the COVID-19 across the globe, a total of the confirmed cases stood at 515,247,656.Â
