Roseau, Dominica: The team of boys of Dominica secured victory over Grenada on the day 2 match of the Table Tennis in the 5th ALBA Games in Venezuela. The team won the match with 3-2 scores.

Sports Division of Dominica took to Facebook to share glimpses of the games in Venezuela and stated,” Table Tennis Day 2 updates at the 5th ALBA Games in Venezuela. The Dominica boy’s team triumphed over the much more experienced Grenada team in a thrilling 3-2 effort.”

The details of the matches are as follows: 

Firstly, the boys of Dominica lost the doubles match vs Grenada in straight sets vs Jason and Cedric (the junior & national champion).

  • 8-11

Jovanni Robinson won the following singles match.

  • 11-4
  • 11-9
  • 9-11
  • 11-9

Malkijah Augusite won his singles match against Cedric

  • 11-8
  • 12-10
  • 11-8

Jovanni Robinson lost to Jason in their singles match

  • 6-11
  • 7-11
  • 16-14
  • 8-11

Maqquel Auguiste won the last match.

  • 10-12
  • 7-11
  • 11-7
  • 11-7
  • 11-3

However, the girls team of Dominica lost 0-3 against St Vincent in some hard fought matches. Dominica lost straight sets in the girls doubles.

  • Shadia Seaman lost 1-3 in her singles match vs Cumberbatch 
  • Sandra Joseph lost 2-3 in her singles match.

Further, the details of other sporting events of Dominica in ALBA games were also highlighted by the Sports Division. The match between Dominica and Nicaragua in Girls Football was held at the 5th ALBA Games in Venezuela. A hard fought game against superior opponents, but the ladies left everything on the field. The country however was on the losing end going down 14-0. Girls Football Captain Jada St Jean says despite going down to Nicaragua in their final match in the ALBA Games in Venezuela. The girls gave it their all.

Dominica lost 14-0 against their superior opponents, but St Jean says despite the result the team gave their all on the field. She said that she is proud of how the girls fought against a top quality team.

Dominica taking on Venezuela in Billiards or Table Pools as they call it back home at the 5th ALBA Games in Venezuela. Rough start for the Billiards team as they lost their opening match 6-1 in the 8 ball competition to Venezuela. Dominica didn’t have the best start to the billiards competition at the 5th ALBA Games in Venezuela. Dominica lost its opening match 6 games to one to Venezuela. Sylvester Joseph represented Dominica in the first round of matches today.
