Dominica: Walson Pacquette appointed member of the World Athletics Referee panel

Roseau, Dominica: Walson Pacquette of Dominica is the athlete who has not only passed the World Athletics Referee Silver level exams in April but also officially received an appointment as a member of the World Athletics Referee panel at the silver level for the cycle 2023 – 2029. 

The silver level is the second highest ranking for technical officials internationally. Walson of Dominica now has the great pleasure of serving on this prestigious panel.

Pacquette has been a certified technical official level 1 since 2018 after passing the Level 1 course conducted in the last quarter of that year, with outstanding performances in practical and theory. 

He ascended to the top of his class in the oral examination and finished top three (3) overall. Throughout the years, Pacquette has been revered as one of the most dedicated Athletics officials, ever-present at all meets, championships, and any other competitions held under the auspices of the DAAA.

2010 – 2011 – Technical Official – Waseen Dominic Isidore Road Race (Dominica)

2012 – Meet Director – DAAA Age Group Championship/World Athletics Day (Dominica)

2015 – Track Referee at Windward Island School Games (Track & Field) Dominica

2017 – Combined Events Official & Track umpire – CARIFTA GAMES (Curacao)

2017 – 2023 Technical Delegate – Grand Bay Co-operative Credit Union (GBCCU) Isidore Road Race (Dominica)

2017 – Technical Official NACAC Age Group Championship (Trinidad)

2022 – Start Referee Fraternity Games (Martinique)

2021 – 2022 – Competition Secretary Sports Division Secondary Schools Boys and Girls Championship (Dominica)

2023 – Technical Advisor – Appointed by the Board of Directors of Dominica Athletics Referees Association (DARA)

2018 – 2023 – Technical Delegate – DAAA National Championships & all other organized competitions

Mr Pacquette will also serve as a referee at the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad.

The DAAA is honored to have an individual who has persevered to attain such a level of excellence within the athletics community.
