Roseau, Dominica: The Sports Division of Dominica will stage five Netball festivals for primary schools this week. The festivals are the culmination of the Primary Schools Netball coaching caravan, which commenced in November 2022 and provided weekly coaching sessions to primary school students.

Two festivals will be held on Tuesday 20th, at Salisbury and Marigot and will continue on the 21st with three other festivals.

The schools which will be in action on Tuesday are :

On Friday, 14 schools participated in the Primary Schools Mini Volleyball Festival final round at Benjamin’s Park. In the girl’s final, Grand Fond Primary defeated the Thibaud Primary to take the girl’s championship.

In the boy’s final, the W.S Stevens Primary won over the Sineku Primary to win the boy’s title.

WS Stevens Primary wins Boy’s Division of Primary Schools Volleyball Festival.

Whilst Grand Fond Primary wins the girl’s division.

In the girls’ match-up:

  • Grand Fond vs Thibaud
  • Grand Fond won 2 – 0
  • Sets: 15:9, 15:8

In the boy’s game :

  • Sineku went down to W.S.S
  • 0 – 2
  • Sets: 8:15, 13:15

The Sports Division of Dominica is hosting such events to increase the sporting skills among the students. Earlier, fourteen schools qualified for the final round of the Primary Schools Volleyball Festival.

Following a competition in the South and North zones on Tuesday and Wednesday, a number of schools qualified for the final round of the primary school’s volleyball festival to take place on Friday at Benjamin’s Park. 

Twenty eight schools will participate in this year’s Primary Schools Volleyball Festival, the schools will be divided into zones and will feature boys and girls teams.
