Dominica to participate in 2023 Caribbean and Central American Games, know squad

The Dominica Olympic Committee (DOC) announced the squad list for the 2023 Caribbean and Central American (CAC) Games.

Roseau, Dominica: The Dominica Olympic Committee (DOC) announced the squad list for the 2023 Caribbean and Central American (CAC) GamesEleven member delegations comprising six (6) athletes and five (5) officials competing in Athletics, Boxing and Swimming will participate in the games. 

The games will be kicked off with the opening ceremony on Friday, June 23, 2023, in San Salvador, El Salvador. Swimming athlete Jasmine Schofield will execute the role of flag bearer for her country for her first time ever.

The team, detailed below, is led by Chef De Mission, Egbert Charles, at his inaugural Games as Chef de Mission: 

Swimming

The DOC enter the Games looking to build on the organizations’ previous medal tally of three (3), whilst making history with female representation in Swimming by Jasmine Schofield.

The CAC Games are known as the multi-sport regional championship event. The games are held every quadrennial with countries representing from Central America, the Caribbean, as well as for Bermuda, Mexico, and the South American countries of Colombia, Guyana, Suriname, and Venezuela.

The Games will run for the duration of two (2) weeks, with the closing ceremony held on July 8, 2023.

Billy Doctrove, President of the Dominica Olympic Committee commented, “Whilst our team size may be small, we are confident in the quality of athletes selected to represent Dominica and are confident we will be represented on the podium on more than one occasion. We are also happy to see Swimming represented at the CAC Games for the first time since I became President and would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the respective Associations on the work they are putting in to develop the sport at the local level. I take this opportunity to wish all the athletes and officials a successful and enjoyable 2023 CAC Games.”
