Roseau, Dominica: The government of the Commonwealth of Dominica is all set to host the Miss Kalinago pageant on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at the Karina Cultura Village in Bataca. Melissa Poponne Skerrit- Parliamentary Representative for Roseau Central Constituency, announced the launch event and outlined her sponsored contestant.
Melissa Skerrit has been sponsoring Adicia Burton, who is also known as Ms City Chic. She added, “She’s cute, well-spoken and quite chic! Come along to show your support for Ms. City Chic, Adicia Burton, who is sponsored by Melissa Skerrit.”
Adicia Burton was born and raised in the hamlet of Crayfish River of the Kalinago Territory in Dominica. She was raised to be a disciplined scholar, athlete and is an art and culture enthusiast. She captured the title of the Salybia Primary School Princess Pageant in 2010 and the national title of the Dominica Carnival Princess Show in 2012.
Ministry of Environment, Rural Modernization and Kalinago Upliftment, the Kalinago Barana Aute, as well as the Kalinago Events Committee will host the pageant.
The Miss Kalinago Pageant will witness the participation of the five contestants. The name of the participants is Stashar Lucien, Adella Kristina Florent, Adicia Burton, Chi’na Nacali Tulloch, Aniska Auguiste.
Melissa Skerrit further added that Confidence and class would take the stage as she competes for the title of Miss Kalinago.
Further, the contestant named Aniska Auguiste will be sponsored by the Prime Minister of Dominica- Dr Roosevelt Skerrit. The Minister of Tourism, International Transport and Maritime- Denise Charles, will also sponsor Chi’na Nacali Tulloch.
The Miss Kalinago 2022 Pageant is one of the activities included in Kalinago Week 2022 and is also promised to be an exciting event for the visitors and participants too.
Gwyneth Frederick, who is the Manager of the Kalinago Barana Aute and a Member of the Kalinago Events Committee, remarked that the Dominicans would witness the vibrant culture of Kalinago, and people will make their way to the spot of the event on September 17, 2022.
The five contestants will be witnessed the four judged rounds which include Talent, Spectacular Wear, Kalinago Fashion Wear, and Evening Wear with Question and Answer. Further, there will also be introduction rounds for contestants where they will outline their sponsors and their platforms.
