Dominica to host Independence Literary Competition 2023, and National cultural competition 

Commonwealth of Dominica Division of Culture is all set to host the "INDEPENDENCE LITERARY COMPETITION 2023" and "NATIONAL CULTURAL COMPETITIONS". The competition will feature POETRY and SHORT STORY events.

Roseau, Dominica: Commonwealth of Dominica Division of Culture is all set to host the “INDEPENDENCE LITERARY COMPETITION 2023″ and “NATIONAL CULTURAL COMPETITIONS”. The competition will feature POETRY and SHORT STORY events. 

RULES & GUIDELINES for POETRY Competitions are as follows: 

  • Poems could be in either English or Kweyol and can have any Dominican or Caribbean theme.
  • Entries will be monitored to determine whether or not entrants have entered the same piece in either English or
  • Kweyol categories or the piece was entered in any other Cultural Division competition. Subsequent entries by the same entrant will be disqualified.
  • Each poem may be no more than 60 lines.
  • Each entry must be accompanied by a cover page. The title of each poem and the author’s name must appear on the first page of each entry and the author’s name must not appear anywhere on the text.

SHORT STORY

  • Stories should be no longer than 2,000 words and can have any Dominican or Caribbean theme.
  • Each entry must be accompanied by a cover page. The title of the story and the name of the author’s must appear on the first page of each entry and the author’s name must not appear anywhere on the text.
  • Print entries must be double-spaced.
  • Entries will be monitored to determine whether or not entrants have entered the same piece in any other Cultural Division competition.
  • Subsequent entries by the same entrant will be disqualified.

Forms can be collected at the Old Mill Cultural Centre, DistrictDevelopment Officers (D.D.O), District Development Assistants or at the Local Government Department.
