Dominica to host Heritage Day 2022 as part of Independence celebrations

Roseau, Dominica: The Government of Dominica, through the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Community Development, presents Heritage Day 2022.

Dr Irving McnItyre- Minister for Health, Wellness and New Health Investment, shared the update regarding Heritage Day 2022. Further, the Heritage Day Planning Committee inivited all the residents of Trafalgar and neighbouring on the day on Sunday, October 23, 2022. 

He stated that the country has been celebrating its heritage in praise, song, dance, food, music, arts and culture. 

Dr McnItyre stated, “A warm welcome is extended to everyone to join us at the Heritage Village in Trafalgar this Sunday, October 23, 2022, as we celebrate our heritage in praise, song, dance, food, music, arts and culture.” 

Various activities will be held on the day, which are as follows: 

  • Mass from 10 am
  • Exhibition Display from 12 noon
  • Cultural Extravaganza from 3 pm.

Various performers will be performed at the event. The name of the performers is TK Internation, Fetty Mark, Pan in Harmony, Midnight Groovers, Trafalgar Primary School, Michele Henderson, Morne Prosper Band, DJ Fire, Mr Christopher Rolle, Trafalgar Cultural Group, Point Michel Cultural Group, Sisserou Singers, Waitukubuli Dance Theater, Signal Band, Youth on Mission Dance Group

During the Independence Day celebration in the month of October, Heritage Day in Dominica is celebrated with huge enthusiasm every year. The creole week celebrations have been started with Heritage Day and ended with Creole Day. People in Dominica proudly attend the day and take pride in their country. They celebrate their heritage with a number of events and activities. 

Heritage Day travels to a different village or community each year to celebrate that village’s uniqueness and to award it for its contribution in preserving the cultures, traditions and heritage of this country.

Heritage day in Dominica begins with a church service attended by government ministers, community leaders, and persons from the community and the rest of the Dominican population.
