The Independence Season will be celebrated in Dominica in October to mark the story of their struggle

Roseau, Dominica: Dominica is set to celebrate the Independence Season from September 30, 2023. The celebration is all about the rhythm of the drum beats, vibrant cultural displays and mesmerizing dances.

The infectious music will also entertain the audience with showcasing of the struggle of gaining freedom.

The Commonwealth of Dominica Division of Culture shared the calendar of the cultural competitions for the celebration of the Independence 2023.

ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 1ST, 2023

  • Competition: WEST and SOUTH WEST SEMI-FINAL
  • Venue: KALLEB LAURENT PRIMARY (ST. JOSEPH) | 3PM
  • Competition: NORTH & NORTH EAST SEMI-FINAL
  • Venue: BENSE PRIMARY SCHOOL | 3PM

ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7TH, 2023

  • Competition: SOUTH SEMI-FINAL
  • Venue: BELLEVUE CHOPIN MALL | 3PM

ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 8TH, 2023

  • Competition: EAST AND SOUTH EAST SEMI-FINAL
  • Venue: CASTLE BRUCE SECONDARY SCHOOL 3PM

ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13TH, 2023

  • Competition: CULTURAL FINALS PART 1
  • Venue: OLD MILL CULTURAL CENTRE | 5PM

ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 14TH, 2023

  • Competition: CULTURAL FINAL’S PART 2
  • Venue: PIERRE CHARLES SECONDARY SCHOOL | 3PM

ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 15TH, 2023

  • Competition: CULTURAL FINAL’S PART 3
  • Venue: CABRITS NATIONAL PARK | 3PM

Several districts will be part of the Competitions. The districts are:

  • South ( Bellevue Chopin to Petite Savanne)
  • South West ( Fond Cole to Scotts Head, Roseau Valley)
  • West ( Canefield to Dublanc, Canefield to Belles)
  • North ( Portsmouth to Capuchin, Portsmouth to Bense)
  • North East ( Calibishie to Concord )
  • East ( Kalinago Territory to Petite Soufriere)
  • South East ( Grand Fond to Delices)

The registration of the cultural competition is now opened. The guidelines for the adults and children will be:
