Dominica secures ranking in Travel and Leisure Magazine’s 25 best islands for 2022

Dominica has been ranked among the 25 best islands across the globe by Travel + Leisure Magazine. The magazine conducted the survey and ranked the Nature Isle of the Caribbean in the 8th position.

Roseau, Dominica: Dominica has been ranked among the 25 best islands across the globe by Travel + Leisure Magazine. The magazine conducted the survey and ranked the Nature Isle of the Caribbean in the 8th position.

The World’s Best Awards survey, Travel and Leisure, asks readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe every year to share their opinions on the top cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Readers rated the different islands according to their activities and sights, natural attractions and beaches, food, friendliness, and overall value.

The readers of the magazine always weigh the destinations on the specialities such as dramatic coastlines and pristine beaches. All are evidence that we are not only enthusiastically exploring again but re-examining what an ideal island experience might entail.

Dominica secured a total of 91 scores and stood in the 8th position.

Earlier, Dominica has also earned the #1 Island in the Caribbean, Bermuda and the Bahamas, topping the charts in its first appearance on the prestigious travel and leisure World’s Best Awards. As one of the Caribbean’s most sparsely populated, environmentally conscious, and culturally rich countries and an emerging travel destination, this is well-deserved recognition for Dominica.

Secret Bay Dominica has been named Travel and Leisure’s No #1 Resort in the Caribbean, Bermuda and The Bahamas for 2022. The resort topped the World’s Best Awards reader’s survey for the second time in three years in the region.

The Commonwealth of Dominica is renowned as the Caribbean’s best-kept secret due to its remarkable natural beauty. Its breathtaking hiking trails, romantic secluded bays, lush tropical rain forests, and beaches make the country an exceptional tourism destination.

It is a haven for adventure travellers for anyone who wants to take a dip into hiking, waterfalls, hot springs and lakes, cultural events/festivals, diving and water sports, canyoning adventures and whale/dolphin watching.

Besides this, Dominica consists of nine active volcanoes on the island, providing its lakes and rivers with extremely warm temperatures, especially Boiling Lake, which reaches temperatures above 200 degrees Fahrenheit.

Moreover, the country offers a variety of tailored accommodation preferences ranging from eco-friendly travellers to luxury seekers. All hotel offerings remain aligned with the island’s promise to cater to its travelling guests while keeping its sustainability promise.

With all these splendid beauties, Dominica emerged as one of the worth considering options for the travellers, due to which it gained consideration in the list despite being nominated for the first time.

Travel and Leisure Magazine conducts a global survey for 12 times a year after rating the different destinations in a few categories. The categories are:

  • Activities and sights
  • Natural attractions and beaches
  • Food
  • Friendliness
  • Overall value

The magazine gives a score in every category with the tags such as the score of excellent, above average, average, below average, or poor. After that, they calculated the final tally of every island and gave the ranking to the destinations

The top 25 islands featured in the list of Travel + Leisure are:
