Dominica: Rowboat guide Spaghetti has best time in Indian River of Portsmouth

Roseau, Dominica: Spaghetti- A rowboat guide took a tour of the Indian River in Portsmouth and had the best experience while exploring the beauty of one of the mesmerizing places of the Nature Isle of the Caribbean.

He provided true experience of the Indian River and rowed the boat silently past the fantastically twisted roots of the Bwa Mang trees. Discover Dominica took to Facebook and shared a video showcasing the tour of Sea Cliff Dominica.

It added, “The name of our brilliant rowboat guide up the Indian River in Portsmouth was ‘Spaghetti’, and he’s been guiding there since he was a kid.”

He led the visitors on an experience that was truly like entering a storybook as he rowed the boat silently past the fantastically twisted roots of the Bwa Mang trees, where they saw herons darting, yellow crabs scuttling and huge iguanas scaling trees.

Spaghetti has a wealth of knowledge of local wildlife and plants which he shares along the way, and you even get to see a set piece of ‘Calypso’s Lair’ from the movie’ Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest’ which was filmed here. Choosing to use rowboats instead of motorized ones is a choice for sustainability—it helps to protect the precious natural habitat here.

Up the river at the ‘Bush Bar’, Larry gave them a warm welcome as he talked the visitors through the renowned Dominican bush rums being served. Rum infused with local herbs, spices and flora from the earth, ‘bush rums’ are all homegrown, so they’ll never have the same taste experience twice. Their trip was finished out by ‘Inferno’ aka ‘The Jelly Man’ bringing them fresh coconut water, while Spaghetti skillfully fashioned birds, locust and fish designs out of a palm branch.

Dominica’s Indian River is a must-see experience when in the Nature Isle. This protected area features flourishing wildlife in the heart of Portsmouth. Near Portsmouth, yacht travellers have full access to the gorgeous beach, historic Cabrits National Park, the Indian River, shops, stores, and restaurants with fresh and local cuisine.
