Dominica records two incidents of homicides on New Year eve

With the start of the new year, Dominica recorded two incidents of homicides in the past 24 hours. The brutal murders were left everyone in shock as homicide is increasing day by day in Dominica.

With the start of the new year, Dominica recorded two incidents of homicides in the past 24 hours. The brutal murders were left everyone in shock as homicide is increasing day by day in Dominica.

According to initial reports, an unidentified assailant attacked a 26-year-old victim named Stephan Paul Jr in the first incident. The incidents occurred earlier today in Trafalgar.

The man was attacked with gun bullets as the body of the man consists of a gunshot wound.

Police officials have not revealed much information yet but said the probe of the matter is going on.

In another shocking incident of homicide, a Cochrane man, Miron Benjamin, was shot with the bullet and killed by an unidentified murderer. Nearby residents have found the body of a man along the Goodwill Road, near S-Mart supermarket and Do It Centre.

They immediately informed the police, and identification of the body was made. Police officials further told that the body contained the many wounds of stab. It was signified that someone had stabbed him with a sharp-edged weapon multiple times.

Police authorities have ensured that the probe into the matter is going, and they haven’t revealed anything further.

Both incidents have shocked everyone in the islands as the country records a minimal crime rate. According to the crime rate data in 2021, the level of crime in the country stands at 54.55 percent.

However, Dominica has also seen some years with the highest rate of murders, such as in 2017, 19 individuals were exposed to brutal homicides. On the other hand, in 2016, 16 deaths were reported due to the brutal murders.

Moreover, in 2017, the Caribbean island itself reported the highest cases of murders.  Further, the residents have commented on the shocking incident and expressed their anguish.

One of the residents, named Shirley George, commented, ” May God bless my brother and sister, please put down the guns and knife they do kill you, but someone has to have them in their possession; it time for us to stop this nonsense, so many lives have lost because of ignorance, please learn to walk away. We are not looking at what is happening in our world today. We should stop all this, think consciously that is than what Jesus Christ want from us.”
