The Commonwealth of Dominica has recorded new COVID-19 virus cases taking the total number of active cases to eight

Dominica: The Commonwealth of Dominica has recorded new COVID-19 virus cases taking the total number of active cases to eight. The Prime Minister of Dominica – Roosevelt Skerrit, shared the information via his Facebook page.

According to the Coronavirus COVID-19 report of the Ministry of Health, Wellness and New Investment of Dominica, there are a total of eight active COVID-19 cases, and till now, no death is reported in Dominica due to the virus.

The Report states, there are a total of 176 people who have been recovered from the deadly virus and since 2020, the Commonwealth of Dominica has reported a total of 184 confirmed COVID-19 cases.

There are zero contacts under investigation, and a total of 40 people are in the GCOD quarantine. The number of contacts cleared is 976, and the number of contacts identified is 976.

The report further provides the information that so far, in Dominica, 16134 individuals have been tested for the virus, out of which 15950 individuals have tested negative for the mutant.

A total of 19271 people have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 14678 individuals received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Dominica.

According to the statistics, worldwide, there are a total of 164,669,269 active COVID-19 cases, 143,595,326 people have been recovered from the virus, and the world reported a total of 3,412,136 deaths due to the coronavirus- COVID-19.

The island had received COVID-19 vaccines through the COVAX facility initiative and through the government of India via Vaccine Maitri Initiative. PM Skerrit thanked the nations who helped the island in times of need and provided COVID-19 vaccines.

COVAX facility is a global initiative which is started by WHO- World Health Organisation, CEPI- the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance Gavi, the Pan American Health Organization – PAHO, and UNICEF to provide COVID-19 vaccine worldwide.
