Dominica: Power outage declared for Canefield area

Roseau, Dominica: Dominica announced the emergency power outage in the areas from Canefield to Belfast and the interior up to Wet Area, Rosalie to North End, Snug Corner to Bagatelle, and Loubiere to Scotts Head.

The issue of the electricity supply has also been developed from Bourne to Marigot. The power outage is caused by the unscheduled interruption in their power supply.

Dominica Electricity Services Ltd extended apologized to the customers for the interruption in the power supply. The DOMLEC added that they are working to rectify the issue and putting efforts to restore the electricity.

Besides this, DOMLEC also apologized to customers from St. Joseph to the entire South of the island for the unscheduled interruption in their power supply.

They are currently experiencing some fault on the system and working to rectify with a view to restoring as soon as it is possible.

Earlier, DOMLEC advised customers in the areas listed below of power interruptions on Tuesday September 26th.

AREAS AFFECTED:

Time: 7:00am to 3:00pm

Portsmouth Central, Zicack, Lagoon, Sunshine Street, Cabrits, Belle Hall, Tane Tane, Guillete, Savanne Paille, Morne A’Louis, Clifton, Toucari, Cocoyer, Cottage and Capuchin

Time: 9:00am to 4:30pm

Casso, Morne Prosper, Copthall, Elmshall, Morne Bruce, Fortune, Kingshill, Reigate, Champfleurs, Eggleston and Giraudel

Time: 4:00pm to 9:30pm

  • Independence Street (between Great Marlborough Street and River St),
  • Hillsborough Street (between Independence St and Great George St),
  • Upper Lane (between River Bank and Cork St),
  • River Street (between Independence St and Old Street),
  • River Bank (between Independence St and Hanover Street),
  • Kings Lane (between River Bank and Hillsborough Street),
  • Great Marlborough Street (between Financial Center compound and Great George St),
  • Great George Street (between Hillsborough St and River Bank)’

As per the DOMLEC, the timing and the areas are subjected to changes.

The customers however expressed disappointment with the service of DOMLEC and said that it is causing trouble in their work. They added that the power supply should be recovered with immediate effect so that they can prepare according to that.
