The government of the Commonwealth of Dominica has issued a statement on the situation in Ukraine and expressed its deep concern for the disturbance in the country after the invasion of Russia. On Friday, February 25, 2022, the government of Dominica has stated that the situation was quite disturbing with the military attack by the Russian Federation in Ukraine.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit also took to Twitter and condemned the military invasion and cited, “The Government of Commonwealth of Dominica is deeply disturbed by and condemns the military attack by the Russian Federation against the people of Ukraine”.

PM Skerrit urged that the Commonwealth of Dominica calls for an immediate end to the aggression and considers the actions contrary to maintaining international peace and security.

He further emphasized, “United Nations Charter set out the parameters which should be followed to maintain peace and sovereignty of every country”.

“These actions are contrary to the maintenance of international peace and security, as enshrined in the United Nations Charter, “outlined PM Skerrit.

The ongoing crisis is not relevant, and the government of Dominica always prefers diplomatic talks, and we urged for a return to diplomatic dialogue in an effort to stop the constant turmoil, underscored prime minister.

He also urged that Dominica reaffirm the commitment to the principles of respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states.

While condemning the situation in Ukraine, one resident named Hanna Lambert commented, “This is horrible for what is going on in Ukraine. Pray for the people of Ukraine and Dominica and the Caribbean denounce this invasion“.

Russia has invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, which has created huge turmoil in the country. The various Caribbean leader has criticized the military invasion and showed concern for the situation of Ukraine, and there is a very stressful situation in Ukraine and eastern Europe.
