Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit shares an update on the various projects of the government of the Commonwealth of Dominica in the Roseau Valley Constituency in the latest episode of Annou Pale on Sunday, March 20, 2022. 

On Thursday, along with parliamentary representatives and members of the cabinet and other government officials, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit visited the Roseau constituency. 

“Our visits to the constituencies help us to better understand the needs of the people who live in our communities. This allows us to diverse more targeted interventions to improve your lives and solve the issues which may negatively impact your livelihoods,” underscored prime minister.    

Prime Minister visited project sites in Copthall, Mount Prosper, Wotten Waven, Trafalgar and Fond Cani.

Prime Minister further asserted that due to time constraints, they were unable to extend the tour, but they have planned to visit the other areas in the constituency in the coming weeks.  

Projects of Government for Roseau Valley: 

  1. For the Trafakar project, PM Skerrit stated
  • To provide safe, resilient shelter for residents, the government have planned to embark on a very aggressive housing initiative.
  • He said that a total of 12 apartments had been constructed, and all the beneficiaries would get their new homes before June 2022. 

PM Skerrit stated that they had settled the land, work would be started in the next couple of months. In Trafalgar, there will be a new building of additional housing. 

While emphasizing various other projects, PM Skerrit asserted that an indoor basketball facility in the Roseau Valley would also be constructed. The heavy rain has halted the work on the construction. 

Further, the facility will facilitate sports activities in the valley, and the government is making efforts to promote sports in Dominica. 

  1. Mount Prosper

In Laudant, the government is also developing the concept for a vending facility in a water raven to offer a better experience to visitors. 

 PM said, “I also give the green light to various road projects to begin in one prospect and made stops at projects at various stages of completion including the communist wall in a falconry area”, underscored prime minister. 

Prime Minister further stated that the government is looking to identify a suitable location to finalize various projects in Laudant as it is an important village in Dominica. 

Various projects that will also serve as a disaster facility centre for training have been initiated, he added. 

He further exclaimed that the road linking Copthall to Wotten Waven would also be constructed, which will further boost the tourism sector in the country.  

“In traffic, we have settled, I believe on the land, and we will see work started within the next couple months on those units,” added the prime minister.
