Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit, has invited all Dominicans to tune in for the special episode of Annou Pale as he discussed revised COVID-19 protocols and the National Library Architectural Competition.
Prime Minister Skerrit said that the government of Dominica is working for the welfare of the Dominicans, and the government is working to secure a brighter future for the children of residents as the government wants to create a country full of prosperity and economic growth.
Outlining the revised COVID-19 protocols, PM Skerrit stated that on Monday, the government announced new COVID-19 guidelines, which are guaranteed to schools activities and correspondent groups in the economy, and noted, “Our people are excited to return fully into daily lives, to re-engage with social activities and conduct more regular business at their establishments.”
This is the shortly armed economy of the country needed after two years of lockdown and restrictions. As a people, we must know we are committed to hard work and dedication to various endeavours.

This past week, Dominica achieved a significant milestone in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic as the government announced the lifted of the restrictions on social activities, which will come into effect on April 4, 2022. The step will assist the government in serving as a boost to the economy of the country.
While summarising the decisions taken by the government on the COVID-19 protocols, Minister of Health, Wellness and New Investment Dr. Irving MCINTRYE stated that authorities had removed all the restrictions on social activities.
Upon asking about the successful management of the COVID-19 pandemic, Health Minister stated that from the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ministry never did enough things. But the ministry has worked according to a plan. And any pandemic, there’s a plan as to how anyone manages a pandemic. So from scratch, in terms of command and the control and the management utilizing, organizing, all of this have been mentioned in the plan internsterms of laboratory diagnosis which is part of the pan.
He said, “Our testing, we all over the country and in terms of PCR capacity and capability. Rember, we’re the only country in the Caribbean that have PCR capacity apart from trade on. And so all that is part of plan that helps us to get where we are.”
While shedding light upon the vaccine situation in Dominica, Health Minister also exclaimed that vaccines are also part of the pandemic plan. In the coming time, the country will export all vaccines in the Caribbean and have to legally put them into some of the sister’s countries.
“Let all of that, we also set up a vaccination unit as well to carry out all the vaccines. The fourth part of our plan was actually the acquisition of the antiviral medication. And we make sure that we are all the medications to look after our patients and those who contracted COVID-19,” underscored Health Minister.
He further added that besides all this, they also plan the health system and the emergency response. People will see what the government does in Portsmouth and set up the entire unit, care complex, and had staffing goes down, there they set up the human resource, and that is part of the health emergency plan.
“In terms of coming to disease control and prevention, which is also part of the plan, we’re on top of all game which is were the home isolation; we are in contact tracing department and all that is available, infection control very well in terms of the wash stations we are all over the country, In terms of making masks available, we distributing masks to everyone, in terms of providing sanitizers for everyone and that consists of the infection control but clinical guidelines, we have set up the group of consultants who are helping us to manage our patients in Cosmo, which we did very well, and we were a great assistance to our families,” he added.
He said that risk communication is very important in the plan to manage the pandemic, whether it’s legal, promotion unit, in terms of messaging, or in terms of celebrities.
