The six seats such as Paix Bouche, Vieille Case, Cottage, Colihaut, Petite, Savanne and Roseau Valley, have been declared for the DLP Candidates, as the candidates were duly elected unopposed at the end of the nomination period.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit filled the nomination from Vielle Case, which he has been representing since 2000. Along with that, the Minister for Health, Wellness and New Health Investment of Dominica- Dr Irving McIntyre, was also nominated unopposed.

The other candidates of DLP who will not face any opposition are Lakeyia Joseph from Paix Bouche Constituency, Roland Royer from Cottage Constituency, Daren Pinard from Colihaut Constituency, Julian Defoe from Petite Savanne Constituency.

After PM Roosevelt Skerrit announced the snap general elections in Dominica, the United Workers Party decided to boycott elections. However, PM Skerrit stated that UWP decided to boycott the election to hide their inner conflicts and secure their image. He remarked that a party with no policies, no plans, no agendas and no leaders never be able to contest the elections.

He added, “A party that has no policies, no programs, no presence on the ground, no money and no political leader is not a party that well-meaning and clear-thinking Dominicans can follow.”

Earlier, UWP also conducted the rally as an election campaign in Bayfront, which turned out to be a massive failure as people were not come out to attend their rally.

While filing the nomination, PM Roosevelt Skerrit cited, “I’m very grateful to the voters of the Vieille Case constituency who showed confidence in me in 2000 at age 27, and they are all still standing strong with me today. I’m very fortunate as a person and candidate that I have the most wonderful people in my constituency.”
