Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica- Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, visited the communities of San Sauveur and Petite Soufriere to assess the damage caused by heavy rains held the last weekend.
The heavy rains caused devastation across the area as it resulted in flooding, landslides and the loss of life.
He took to social media and stated, “I led a tour of the communities of San Sauveur and Petite Soufriere today to meet with residents and assess the damage caused by last weekend’s heavy rains, which resulted in flooding, landslides and the loss of life.”
After that, he also visited the sites of Castle Bruce on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit added, “This follows a visit to Castle Bruce on Tuesday.”
He also received a detailed report on the extent of damage caused by the floods and landslides. PM Skerrit asserted that they also deployed equipment and resources for the clearing of roadways. He stated that the authorities are working to make ways of restoration of commuting.
He added, “The Government of Dominica has received a detailed update on the extent of damage and promptly deployed equipment and resources for the clearing of roadways and restoration of commute.”
PM Skerrit assured the people that his government would provide every facility to them and bring relief to the affected sites and residents.
“We will continue to give attention to the situation on the East to bring relief to the affected residents, “said the prime minister.
PM Roosevelt Skerrit also expressed his deepest sympathies to relatives and residents of the Eastern communities on the loss of life.
He added, “I once again express sincere sympathies to relatives and residents of the Eastern communities on the loss of a life in Petite Soufriere, personal injury and damage to property.”
