Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit will host the press conference on Monday, January 30, 2023, in order to discuss various matters of the national importance of the Commonwealth of Dominica.

Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit will host the press conference on Monday, January 30, 2023, in order to discuss various matters of the national importance of the Commonwealth of Dominica.

PM Roosevelt Skerrit took to Facebook and shared the update of the press conference after dropping a flyer. The conference will be held at the Ministry of Finance Conference Room at 10: 00 am. He invited the citizens of Dominica to remain tuned in with the press conference.

PM Skerrit said that he will be joined by the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy, Roland Royer. While inviting the citizens, he added, “Greetings. Happy Sunday to all. The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy, Hon Roland Royer, will join me for this Monday’s press conference. I invite you to tune in.”

People can watch live press conference through the Facebook page of PM Roosevelt Skerrit (@Roosevelt Skerrit) and GIS Dominica. Along with that, the conference will be live aired on the YouTube channel of government of Dominica.

It is expected that PM Skerrit could address various matters of concern related to different socio-economic aspects, such as housing, hospitals, education, the financial status of the country and agriculture aspects and many more in his press conference.

It will be his second conference in the month of January as PM Roosevelt Skerrit also hosted the press conference on January 16, 2023, for an update on matters of national importance. The press conference also featured an update on the E-Passport and the E-Passport Issuing System provided by The Minister for National Security and Legal Affairs, H Rayburn Blackmoore.

Along with that, PM Roosevelt Skerrit also announced the significant decline in the prices of the petroleum products of the country. He also pointed out some important aspects of the international airport.

PM Roosevelt Skerrit also condemned the recent spate of violence on the island, including the killing of two Dominican women in domestic violence incidents during his first press conference. He stated that the government of Dominica will zero tolerance approach against any sort of crime and violence during the upcoming carnival celebrations.

He mentioned that the Commonwealth of Dominica always remained one of the most peaceful and secure nations in the world and to maintain that path; the government will never tolerate any act of violence, no matter how rare in the regional and global context, is an affront to us all.

Besides this, PM Roosevelt Skerrit also announced that the government of Dominica has identified the land in the Castle Bruce area for the resettlement of residents of Good Hope and Petite Soufriere.

He mentioned that he visited the site in John’s Hill, Castle Bruce, last week accompanied by the Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Melissa Skerrit, Parliamentary Representative for the Castle Bruce Constituency Octavia Alfred, Director for Surveys and Commissioner of Lands, Marcus Lestrade, and Chief Physical Planner, Naomi Dorival.
