Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica- Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, shared glimpses of the opening day of Ti Vilaj Kwéyòl held on Monday, October 24, 2022. He also attended the event and witnessed the creative talents and cultural performances of the citizens of the country.
He noted that the Ti Vilaj Kwéyòl got off to a great start on Monday. What a wonderful array of locally produced Dominican goods all in one place.
PM Roosevelt Skerrit added that the experience continues until Thursday at the Botanic Gardens in Roseau. He also invited people to come for the shopping and good food and stay for the cultural performances and musical acts featured daily.
Further, Melissa Poponne Skerrit- parliamentary representative for Roseau Central constituency, also attended the opening of Dominica’s very own Ti Vilaj Kweyol.
As part of the Creole Heritage Month, this is a celebration of all things Dominican. She also welcomed everyone to come down to the Botanical Gardens to see the essence of Dominica on display.
Melissa Skerrit encouraged participants to all patronize as they have something for everyone to enjoy. From musical entertainment to products on display and more. Dominica’s greatest assets range from its resources to its people.
She added that supporting local is not just a slogan but a necessity if we wish to ensure that our culture stands the test of time. So dance, eat and explore. While welcoming, Melissa Skerrit asserted, “Welcome to Dominica’s Ti Village Kweyol.”
Under the theme “Kulture Bien Douboute” the Botanic Gardens was brought alive yesterday for #Day1 of Ti-Vilaj Kwéyòl – Tout Biten Domnik. The Ministry of Tourism also asked people to get a glimpse of the Magic by scrolling through #Day1 Photos below. The celebration of all things Dominican continues today from 12 pm to 6 pm at the Botanic Gardens.
The theme is “Youth Explosion”, so you know it’s going to be a #Day Time Party at Ti-Vilaj Kwéyòl. This event would not have been possible without our main sponsor, the Government of Dominica.
