Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica- Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, paid tribute to the former Parliamentary Representative for Grand Bay Constituency, Edward Registe, on his first death anniversary. 

Edward Registe died one year ago that is on September 1, 2021, due to cardiac arrest. The government of Dominica changed the name of the Grand Bay primary school by the name of Ed- Edward Registe Primary School in his remembrance. 

While recalling his old friend, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, through his social media, stated, “One year ago today, we lost our brother and friend, the Parliamentary Representative for the Grand Bay Constituency, Edward Registe. We remember Ed for his devotion to his people and unwavering commitment to their wellbeing.” 

Applauding Ed, PM Skerrit added that he was a stalwart of the Dominica Labour Party who led with passion and boundless energy during his time as General Secretary. 

“We continue to hold dear and emulate his example of compassion, love and selfless service to people. Today, we celebrate his life and contribution to Dominica. May he rest in eternal peace,” said the prime minister. 

Edward Registre has been remembered by his well-wishers and the people of Dominica. Melissa Poponne Skerrit- the parliamentary representative from Roseau Central Constituency, also paid tribute to him with warm words. 

She stated that she could not suppress the deep sense of sadness and heavy heart which accompanies this day. One year ago, she lost her dear friend and committed comrade, Edward Registe, a selfless individual who embodied such amazing qualities. While recalling him, Melissa Skerrit mentioned, “We certainly miss you and will surely continue your great work.”

Further, a parliamentary representative from the Grand Bay constituency- Vince Henderson, stated that the Dominica Labour Party, through its general executive, Grand Bay Constituency branch and the Parliamentary Representative remember on this day the sudden and tragic death of their brother, Edward Registe. 

“We celebrate his life, his contributions and his fervent energy for all things Labour. We continue to mourn his death but celebrate his life. It is with this in mind that we pause to remember, celebrate and embrace his many contributions during his journey here with us,” said Vince Henderson.
