PM Roosevelt Skerrit extended congratulations to Lakeyia Joseph of Bense, the recipient of the Prime Minister’s National Youth Leader of the Year Award.

The award was presented to Miss Joseph at the National Youth Council’s Youth Awards last evening. He added that Lakeyia Joseph has demonstrated outstanding youth leadership and service to the community and is excelling as a young entrepreneur. Through her agri-business, ‘Nature Blends,’ she is creating employment and contributing to economic activity.

He also extended congratulations to the other awardees who have distinguished themselves in leadership roles and in their respective fields. “May they maintain, always their passion for service and commitment to excellence, “said the prime minister.

Last evening, Melissa Skerrit also attended the National Youth Council’s annual awards ceremony and stated that she could not have been prouder of the amazing youth.

Melissa Skerrit extended big congratulations to the newly crowned Miss Kalinago (City Chic representing Roseau Central) Adicia Burton for capturing the award for most outstanding youth in Indigenous cultural and traditional preservation.

She added, “Special mention must be made of her Roseau Central youth leaders Paloma Mark, Keanu Winston and Anselm Prince. You are on the right path to excellence.”

Melissa Skerrit said that it was truly awesome to listen to the extensive lists of achievements from such young individuals whose passion for their crafts has brought further development to the communities.

“Congratulations to all winners. I wish you all the very best for your future ventures and expect to hear more about your success, “Melissa Skerrit mentioned.

The National Youth Council hosted its 13th National Youth Awards in style, and might they say it was with much class and excellence. They believe in setting high standards, and the youth “understood the assignment”.

National Council extended thanks to all of the sponsors who made this event realized. Special thanks to Dominica Lotteries Commission, a platinum sponsor for the 2022 National Youth Awards; it definitely would not have been possible without their generous sponsorship of the Ceremony.

The National Youth Awards was such a great success last evening; they had the opportunity to celebrate their successes as young people. Quite often, they were seen as leaders of tomorrow, but they were leading the path right now.

As per National Council, “We are so excited for all the Winners from yesterday’s Awards but win or lose, all of us are already winning just doing what it is what we’re doing. Congratulations to all of you. We hope this brings more motivation to keep your torch fueled.”
