Roseau, Dominica: Pierre Charles Secondary School defeated the Dominica Grammar School in the Sports Division Under 20 Secondary Schools cricket championship on Friday, March 3, 2023. The match was held at Botanic Gardens.
Sports Division of Dominica took to social media and shared glimpses of the match held at Botanic Gardens. PCSS defeated the Dominica Grammar School in the Sports Division U20 Secondary Schools cricket championship on Friday at the Botanic Gardens.
Firstly, the match started with the toss, and PCSS won the toss. Pierre Charles Secondary School chose to bowl first and asked Dominica Grammar School to bat.
While setting the target of 146 runs for PCSS, the seven cricketers of Dominica Grammar School got out in the first inning of the match. Sports Division of Dominica stated that DGS made 146 for 7 declared. Yawani Regis 78 and Dionne Rolle 51. Bowling for PCSS, Marlon Maxime 4 for 11 and Zack Bastien 2 for 49.
In reply, Pierre Charles Secondary School made 157 all out, Annan Bruno scored 27; bowling for DGS, Elon Pascal 4 for 13, Yawani Regis 3 for 71 and Lequante Alphonse 2 for 38.
Dominica Grammar School, in their second innings, made 59 all out; bowling for PCSS Zack Bastien 4 for 11 and Marlon Maxime 4 for 19. PCSS needing 49 for victory, made 53 for three wickets. Kevin Alexander made 17 runs, Annan Bruno made 16 runs and not out, and Zack Bastien made 15 and not out.
The match was won by Pierre Charles Secondary School by seven wickets, and the sports division stated, “PCSS won by seven wickets.”
Sports Division of Dominica is infamous for staging such secondary and primary schools cricket, netball, volleyball, and football championship for the U16, U17, U18, and U20 athletes to encourage them in the different sporting fields.
On the same day, the Sports Division of Dominica hosted the semi-finals of the Secondary Schools U16 cricket championship. The Convent High School and the Portsmouth Secondary School advanced into the finals of the cricket championship. The final match will be held on March 10, 2023.
