Dominica: Nigerian singers Burna Boy, Omah Lay to rock stage of World Creole Music Festival

The Ministry of Tourism, International Transport and Maritime Initiatives of the Commonwealth of Dominica declared the names of the two new artists who will perform at the country's World Creole Music Festival

Roseau, Dominica: The Ministry of Tourism, International Transport and Maritime Initiatives of the Commonwealth of Dominica declared the names of the two new artists who will perform at the country’s World Creole Music Festival. The festival is scheduled to take place from October 28 to 30 this year at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium. 

Denise Charles- Ministry of Tourism stated that the two artists would be Burna Boy and Omah Lay, both from Nigeria.

Afrobeat Sensation Burna Boy, aka Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu from Nigeria, received the Grammy award and will emerge as a great headliner on the stage during the festival. Reportedly, he will perform his various popular songs, which include “Last, Last”, with his unique fusion of dancehall, reggae, afrobeat as well as pop music. 

On the other hand, another Nigerian singer named Omah Lay, aka Stanley Omah Didia, is known as a songwriter and record producer. With his self-produced single, “Bad Influence”, he got widespread fame in early 2020 and got great social media acclamation. 

Burna Boy secured great albums and music releases which gave him great acclamation. It includes the sixth studio album ‘Love, Damini’, which debuted at number 14 on the Billboard Top 200. It persisted in ranking high on Apply Music in around 47 nations.

Further, another Nigerian musical star Omah Lay, will also boom the stage of WCF and brim the audience with his afrobeat tunes like ‘Lo Lo’, ‘You’ and ‘Do Not Disturb’.

The Ministry of Tourism of Dominica announced the names of both well-known singers one week after they officially launched Dominica’s World Creole Music Festival. They launched the 21 artists who are scheduled to perform at the festival’s 22nd edition. 

Known as the much-awaited festival in the Caribbean, World Creole Music Festival has witnessed suspension two times due to the halt of the COVID-19 pandemic. Denise Charles– the Minister of Tourism, International Transport and Maritime Initiatives, stated that the festival would help to hike the number of tourists and once again relive the tourism industry. It is anticipated that there will be great hype for the festival this year.
