Roseau, Dominica: Melissa Poponne Skerrit- Parliamentary Representative for Roseau Central Constituency, shared glimpses of the first event of the Independence Day celebrations- Festival Dwivay.
She expressed pleasure after joining the celebration for Independence Day. The first official event has opened the Creole season.
Melissa Skerrit noted, “Last night’s Festival Dwivay on the Promenade was a feel-good Friday night for all. The first official event has opened the Creole season.”
The event was held on September 30, 2022. Further, the second event of the Independence Day celebration was held for two days. The National Days of prayer and thanksgiving were held on October 1 and October 2, 2022.
Parliamentary Representative for Roseau, Melissa Skerrit, expressed pleasure to see the massive gatherings of friends and families at the event. “It was truly a pleasure to see so many of you out there having a good time with your friends and families, “Melissa Skerrit.
She also shared various glimpses of the first event of Independence Day and stated that the people who were unable to attend the celebration could participate in the further events which are on board.
Melissa Skerrit also asked the citizens to be safe and remain responsible while partying. She cited, “Here is just a little peek into last night’s festivities. For those of you who missed out every Friday, we will be on the Promenade, so don’t worry; the season has only just begun! And as always, be safe and please party responsibly.”
The government of Dominica has launched the opening ceremony of the celebration of Independence Day on September 24, 2022, Sunday, at Windsor Park at 5 pm. The Ministry of Tourism also launched the calendar of events, according to which the events started on September 30, 2022, and will be finished on November 5, 2022.
Various events such as Flag Day, National Cultural Gala, World Creole Music Festival, Market Day and many more will entertain the audience.
