Roseau, Dominica: Parliamentary Representative for Roseau Central Constituency Melissa Poponne Skerrit extended greetings to Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit on being honoured with the order of Jose’ Marti’. 

While pouring wishes, Melissa Skerrit expressed, “Congratulations to the Roosevelt Skerrit on receiving this prestigious order (of Jose’ Marti’) that was bestowed by The Government of Cuba.”

On the official visit of three days to the Republic of Cuba from April 25, 2022, to April 28, 2022, Prime Minister Roosevelt received the order of Jose’ Marti’ in Havana. 

In addition to that, Melissa Skerrit also announced that they have organised the Congratulations celebration in the wake of PM Skerrit’s honoured with an order of Jose’ Marti.’ 

She stated, “Congratulations celebrations will be held in honour of Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit on receiving the order of Jose’ Marti’ from the Republic of Cuba.

The celebration will be held on April 28, 2022, at around 4 pm. It will be commenced at Windsor Park Stadium. 

The government of Dominica has urged the residents of the country to wear something red.

To get the entry in the celebration event, a negative report of the COVID-19 test called the Antigen test is needed to present. On the other hand, the valid ID of the vaccination card is also a measure of entry.

Earlier, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit also expressed gratitude and pleasure after being honoured with the Order of José Martí in Cuba on Tuesday, April 26, 2022.  

The Order of José Martí is the highest national recognition of Cuba, given to nationals and Heads of States and Governments who have distinguished records in defence of human rights and have made special contributions to education, culture, governance, and well-being of all people.

Expressing pleasure, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit noted, “I am honoured to be the recipient of the Order of José Martí, Cuba’s highest national recognition, conferred on Tuesday, April 26, 2022.”
