Roseau, Dominica: Melissa Poponne Skerrit- Member of Parliament for Roseau Central Constituency, extended best wishes to students of her National Assessment Champions class for their exams on Wednesday. 

The students of Grade 6 have completed their preparation under the program and are set to sit in their exams. Melissa Skerrit met with the students and gave them supplies needed for the exam, along with a few treats. She expressed pride and pleasure in witnessing a huge response from the students. 

Melissa Skerrit announced the reopening of the National Assessment Champions programme for 6th Grade in Roseau Central on February 28, 2023. She also expressed pleasure in receiving scholarships within the top 10 on the island since the establishment of the program three years ago. 

While sharing glimpses on her Facebook post, Melissa Skerrit cheered the students with encouraging words and asked them to remain confident during the exam. She said, “I visited students from my National Assessment Champions class, who will be sitting exams, to give a pep talk and provide supplies needed for the exams along with a few treats.” 

During her meeting, she took reviews of the students for the program and the teaching style of the teachers. She said that she is so proud to say that since the inception of this program three years ago, they have captured scholarships within the top 10 on the island. 

“And this year is no different, as our national assessment champions are confident and ready to ace. Best of luck to all students across the island in your exams. You’ve got this, “said the member of parliament. 

Since its inception, the National Assessment Champions program has consistently had a student who held a position in the top ten scholars islandwide. Melissa Skerrit said that the program has started to enhance the value of education among the children and prepare them for several scholarships within the region.
