Roseau, Dominica: Melissa Poponne Skerrit- Parliamentary Representative for Roseau Central, delivered the scholarships to 50 young scholars with some financial support along the way of scholarships.
The Commonwealth of Dominica has been witnessing the start of a new academic year. In order to mark the start of the new academic year, Melissa Skerrit took the initiative to support the scholars with significant assistance.
Through her social media, she noted, “Today marks the start of a new academic year for many of our island’s youth. And as such, I could not herald this new year in without first acknowledging the hard work of 50 young scholars with some financial support in the way of scholarships.”
Marking it’s streek going on, Melissa Skerrit Foundation also distributed the scholarships as well as 200 backpacks with “starter-pack” school supplies to several students and families.
In order to uplift the education sector, the government of Dominica started various new initiatives to advance studies across the nation. She also expressed gratitude to several general donors and supporters for sponsoring the scholarship initiatives in the country.
Melissa Skerrit stated, “With the patronage of MMC and the sponsorship of several generous donors and supporters, the Melissa Skerrit Foundation was able to provide these scholarships as well as 200 backpacks with ‘starter-pack’ school supplies that were distributed to numerous students and families.”
She expressed wishing all bright young minds a successful new school year, and she encouraged all of the youth to continue to strive for excellence in all that they do.
