The Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica has approved a contract for the restoration of the lighting of the Windsor Park Sports Stadium.

Roseau, Dominica: The Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica has approved a contract for the restoration of the lighting of the Windsor Park Sports Stadium. Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit shared the update on the Stadium and stated that the contract had been signed.

The Government of Dominica signed the $2.4 million contract with Watson Canoville of C&J Electrical Services for the installation of six (6) new poles/light towers to meet the requirements for nighttime local, regional and international sporting events.

In particular, the enhanced lighting will qualify the venue for the hosting of after-dark international cricket matches. The government of Dominica stated that it is expected that the project will be completed within three months.

Oscar George, the Minister with special responsibility for Youth and Sports, and Permanent Secretary Lucien Blackmoore participated in a brief ceremony on Thursday at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium to reveal details of the project to the media.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports, Lucien Blackmoore, gave the breakdown for the Restructuring of the Windsor Park Stadium Lighting Project. A $2 Million Signing Ceremony was held yesterday between the Government of Dominica and C & J Electrical Services for the lighting of the Stadium.

The government has upgraded the Stadium as the new electronic scoreboards were installed, and the law was refurbished.

The cost of the scoreboard was nearly ECD 1 million, and the protective structure was constructed to ensure its safety. The destruction in the Windsor Park Sports Stadium was caused by Hurricane Maria in 2017. The government of Dominica has also created great sporting bodies such as clubs and sports committees.
