Roseau, Dominica: Dominica Labour Party shifted the launch ceremony of the candidate, Lynsia Frank, to Vieille Case due to some threat reports and named it “Peace Rally” The rally was scheduled to take place at Salisbury Playing Field.

DLP earlier announced the cancellation of the rally and claimed that some elements of the United Workers Party, aided and abetted by the former Member of Parliament of the Salisbury Constituency, are going to take action to restrict Labourites and Dominicans from participating in the rally in Salisbury.

According to the official statement released by Dominica Labour Party, “Some of these UWP operatives have confronted our technical team and restricted them in the preparation of the venue for our rally. The utterances and the actions of the former MP clearly show that he realized he would no longer serve as the MP for the Salisbury constituency.

Afterwards, the launch event was shifted to Vieille Case, and DLP named it Peace Rally. As per the party, they are a mature party and always believe in peace. They stressed that they would continue their campaign in every village and in every part of the Salisbury constituency. The DLP will host the event on Wednesday night at Vieille Case. The speakers will be the Political Leader of the DLP, MP for the Vieille Case Constituency and Prime Minister Roosevelt Skeritt and Lynsia Frank, the DLP Candidate for the Salisbury Constituency.

Further, condemning the UWP, DLP stated that the previous parliamentary representative that his anger was misplaced as he should be angry with the party for not showing interest in the works of the people and for boycotting the elections. But he has been showing his anger with the voters in Salisbury who made up their minds to vote for DLP.

The action of John and the few UWP operatives undoubtedly showed that they wanted to create disruption and turn the peaceful environment into violence. DLP asserted that they would never put the lives of Dominicans at risk and decided to cancel the launch event.

In the statement, the party apologized to the street vendors and shop owners who had lost the opportunity to create some income in the launch event.Â
