Roseau, Dominica: The Commonwealth of Dominica has kicked off the Windward Islands Under 19 cricket Tournament on July 6, 2022. The matches will be held in the different stadiums in the country where the teams from the different countries will participate.
Further, through his social media, Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit also introduced the Under-19 Men’s Cricket Team of Dominica that will represent the country in the tournament.
As per the information provided by Prime Minister Skerrit, each day will witness two cricket matches. One match out of the two will be held at Windsor Park Stadium in Roseau and another match will be held at Benjamin’s Park in Portsmouth.
PM Skerrit noted, “Here is our U-19 Men’s Cricket Team! The Windward Islands Under 19 tournament bowls off this Wednesday, July 6, in Dominica. Two (2) matches will be played daily at the Windsor Park Stadium in Roseau and Benjamin’s Park in Portsmouth.”
Further, PM Skerrit also encouraged the boys for performing splendously in the tournament and optimized to win the tournament. He added, “We wish our boys the best of luck in the tournament. Go get ’em, fellas!”
Earlier, the government of Dominica also hosted cricket T20 international matches between West Indies and Bangladesh on July 2 and July 3, 2022. The tournament has turned out great success and the audiences were entertained by the local entertainers which give them a glimpse of the Carnival.
The Stadium witnessed the cricket tournament after a hiatus of five years as no matches has been played in the Windsor Stadium since 2017.
Prime Minister took social media and wished the team of West Indies all the best. He stated, “On Saturday, I participated in the coin toss ceremony ahead of the first game at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium in Roseau. WI All in!!”
