Dominica: Henderson meets Japanese Ambassador, discusses advancement of fisheries facilities in Stowe

Earlier this month, Dr Vince Henderson with Dr Darroux held a meeting with the Ambassador-designate of Japan to the Commonwealth of Dominica on certain topics mostly related to the fisheries department.

Roseau, Dominica: Vince Henderson-Member of Parliament of Grand Bay constituency, visited the site in Stowe last week, Friday, April 22, 2022. Parliamentary representatives have also been accompanied by the Ambassador of Japan to the Commonwealth of Dominica.

Earlier this month, Dr Vince Henderson with Dr Darroux held a meeting with the Ambassador-designate of Japan to the Commonwealth of Dominica on certain topics mostly related to the fisheries department.

The discussion was totally based on the upliftment and the advancement of the fisheries, Maritine, and tourism facility in Stowe. In the focuses matters of the discussions, the delegations have led a meeting on the topics which would facilitate the development and advancement of the site in Stowe.

Outlining the meeting, Dr Vince Henderson noted, “Earlier this month Dr Darroux and I met with the ambassador-designate of Japan to the Commonwealth of Dominica to discuss the development of the fisheries, Maritine, and tourism facility in Stowe.”

In addition to that, they had also visited various sites to analyze the situation in the sites nearby Stowe.

He said, “Last week, Friday, April 22 2022, we visited the site in Stowe with the company of the ambassador.”

Dr Vince Henderon also shared some glimpses of their visit to the site in which it could be seen that the delegations were analyzing the situation.

While expressing pleasure in the meeting, Dr Vince Henderson stated, “We are pleased to be working with such dedicated individuals on such a project. In the near future, we expect to see the commencement of the development of the facility in Stowe.”

The fish landing site was destroyed during the passage of Hurricane Maria in 2017. The devastation was so severe that the location became utterly useless to the fishers.

Dr Kenneth Darroux- Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Business and Diaspora Relations, stated that the location would not only benefit fishers but it could be immensely useful for other marine activities.

With the support of its friends, the government of Dominica is making efforts to develop new locations to boost tourism in the country.
