Roseau, Dominica: Minister for Health, Wellness and New Health Investment of the Commonwealth of Dominica- Dr Irving McIntyre donate sewing machines in Cochrane in order to serve the adult education programme in the country.
On Monday, August 22, 2022, Health Minister, through his social media, shared a glimpse of the handover ceremony. In the photos, it could be seen that Dr McIntyre held an interactive engagement will all beneficiaries and promoted adult education among them.
In the ceremony, Health Minister also outlined the significance of education and vocational courses. He stated that these kinds of vocational courses instil skill-based talents and education among the youth. There must be a platform to promote this education as it would ultimately lead to the creation of employment with the birth of small and local businesses.
He noted, “Greetings all! It was not only my duty but my pleasure to donate sewing machines and a server to the adult education programme at Cochrane.”
Outlining the course, Health Minister asserted that the classes for the course are going, and it would surely drive the participants to initiate their small businesses or enterprises.
“The classes have been ongoing and will surely position the participants to start their small business enterprises,” said the health minister.
He mentioned that it is yet another initiative by the government of Dominica to promote the small business and empower the people so that they build their future with a safe start.
Dr McIntyre said, “It’s yet another intervention to empower our people, build our constituency and country by extension.”
He also pointed out that two years ago, they also provided a fridge and stove to the baking and pastries classes as well.
Health Minister extended gratitude to Giselle Gabriel- Dominica’s Adult Education officer, Ronaldson Piper (VIC chairman), and all the Adult participants while noting, “Step by step, we’re building our community.”
Earlier, the Ministry of Tourism of Dominica also launched the Small Business One Stop Shop to assist small and medium enterprises. The initiative provides a convenient, easy and professional service to micro and small businesses; this includes grant funding, business registration, fiscal incentives, information on permits, licence certification, business plan advice and counselling, guidance and hand-holding support.
