Dominica Grammar School advances to finals of Secondary Schools Football tournament 

The Dominica Grammar School secured its place in the finals of the Sports Division Secondary Schools Football Competition on Monday, 23rd January 2023, in the U17 Division at the conclusion of the Round Robin phase.

Roseau, Dominica: The Dominica Grammar School secured its place in the finals of the Sports Division Secondary Schools Football Competition on Monday, 23rd January 2023, in the U17 Division at the conclusion of the Round Robin phase.

Dominica Grammar School and the CastleBruce Secondary School went into the final match in the Round Robin phase with identical records, five wins and no defeat, but it was the Dominica Grammar School who prevailed with a hard-fought 2 goals to 1 victory to secure first place and their automatic spot in the finals.

Malachi Labad and Dale Xavier scored 1 goal each for the Dominica Grammar School. The CastleBruce Secondary School will now have to face 3rd place Portsmouth Secondary School in the playoff match on Monday 30th January for the right to face the Dominica Grammar School in the final.

While over at Benjamin’s Park also in the U17 Division the Isaiah Thomas Secondary School crushed the North East Comprehensive School by

8 goals to 1 in the final match of the U17 Division. Scoring for Isaiah Thomas Secondary were Phillip Mathew with 2 goals

Chinua Anthony, Terkwante Woodman, Johsly Meliard, Dejani Alexander and Rasheed Wallace got one goal each and an own goal by Jalen Dorsette of North East Comprehensive completed the scoring for Isaiah Thomas Secondary.

Dray George scored the consolation goal for North East Comprehensive.

Two of the three matches scheduled were played on Monday, 23rd January 2023, in the 13 and under to conclude the Zonal stage in the Sports Division Secondary Schools Football Competition.

Isaiah Thomas Secondary School did not have to sweat it out as the North East Comprehensive School forfeited the match in game one.

In Lindo Park in Goodwill, the Saint Mary’s Academy got pass the Pierre Charles Secondary School by two goals to nil.

Karmal Casimier and Armand Alie scored 1 goal each for Saint Mary’s Academy. Over in Newtown, the CastleBruce Secondary School went unbeaten in their Zone to qualify in first place with three goals to zero victories over the Dominica Grammar School.

Taran George scored a brace (2 goals) and Jerrel Charles 1 for the CastleBruce Secondary School.
