Dominica facing power outage, Bellevue Chopin, Tete Morne, more to be affected

Dominica Electricity Service announced the emergency Power Outage due to the unprecedented interruptions on Monday.

Roseau, Dominica: Dominica Electricity Service announced the emergency Power Outage due to the unprecedented interruptions on Monday. The department has announced the listed areas and timings of the power cut.

The following areas will be affected with the power cut from 9 am to 3: 30 pm.

Castle Comfort, Wallhouse, Beau Bois, Badineau, Lahaut Loubiere, Snug Corner, Bellevue Chopin, Morne Lofty, Pichelin, Soufriere, Soufriere Sulfur Springs, Brooklyn, Gallion, Scotts Head, Ravine Bananne, Grand Coulibrie, Powell, Montin, Tete Morne, Geneva Housing Scheme, Berrekua, Grand Bay, Maranatha Square, Hagley, Stowe, Pointe Carib, Fond St. Jean, Bagatelle and Fab.

The areas which will be affected with the power cut from 3: 00 pm to 8: 30 pm are as follows:

Fond Cole Industrial Area, Ravine Cocque, Griffin Lane, Goodwill Road (from Woodbridge Bay to the entrance of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Lower Stockfarm Road, Tarish Pit, Gutter Village, Didier Lane, Leblanc Lane, Rawles Lane, Felix Lane, Watty’s Lane, Bower’s Lane, Benjamin’s Lane, Jolly’s Lane, Charles Avenue, McIntyre Lane and the Dominica China Friendship Hospital.

As per the advise of the DOMLEC, the time and the areas are subject to change.

Earlier, the planned outage from 10: 00 pm tonight in the areas from Massacre to Campbell including Mahaut and surrounding areas has been canceled as well as the planned outage from 4.00am tomorrow, which included the Fond Cole Industrial Area, and lower Goodwill including the hospital.

The emergency cuts have been happening due to the fault on the power line.

However, the residents of the areas expressed disappointment with huge power cuts and stated that this is halting their emergency work. The authorities expressed apologies for the inconvenience and added that the electricity will be restored once the fault or damage has been tackled.

The situation of the outage has been started from 11 September with the instant power cuts. As per the reports, the fault in the line have been recovering at the slower pace.

As per the citizens, due to the unscheduled interruptions in the electricity, they are facing problems with their appliances. The appliances of the houses are being damaged and they are not finding a way out.

DOMLEC said that they are restoring the electricity in several communities and ways for full supply of the power.
