After Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit announced the snap general elections for December 6, 2022, United Workers Party decided to boycott the polls. The party has also not filed the nomination on Nomination Day (i.e. November 18, 2022).

PM Roosevelt Skerrit asserted that UWP had decided to boycott the elections due to conflicts within the party, not for the people’s sake. Around 45 candidates have filed the nomination for the general elections of December 6. The six constituencies, including the one of PM Roosevelt Skerrit, have been declared for the Dominica Labour Party candidates as they will not face any electorate in elections.
