Roseau, Dominica: Denise Charles- Parliamentary Representative for Soufriere Constituency is all set to open “The Smart Readers’ Club” for the students of the primary school of Dominica. The club will be held under the theme- “Making Reading a Way of Life.”

Denise Charles took to Facebook to share the update and stated,” Smart Readers’ Club is open to our primary school students grades 2 to 6.” Highlighting the significance of the reading, she added that reading is fun and important.

The club will be open to students studying in grades 2 to 6. The club will provide basic reading proficiency to the students. The concept of the reading and its importance will be highlighted during the staging of the club. The interesting ways of reading will be outlined so that students can make it their habit efficiently and easily.

The flyer stated,” Smart Readers’ Club Under the patronage of Honorable Denise Charles. After School Literacy Development for Primary School Children, Grades 2-6 With Basic Reading Proficiency.” The Free Assessment will be provided to the students so that they could efficiently take part in the club.

She also announced the dates, timings, and locations for Pointe Michel and Soufriere which are as follows:

In Pointe Michel: The students of Grades 2 to 4 will get the classes in the club every Tuesday from 1: 30 pm to 3: 30 pm. On the other hand, the students of Grades 5 to 6 will be provided the classes every Saturday from 10: 00 am to 12: 00 pm. Further, all the grades will be provided help with their homework ad project every Thursday from 1: 30 pm to 4: 30 pm. The training will be held at Community Resource Centre.

  • Grades 2-4 Tuesdays. 1:30-3:30 pm
  • Grades 5-6 Saturdays. 10:00 AM-12:00 PM
  • Homework and project help. all grades- Thursdays 1:30-4:30 PM

In Soufriere: The classes will be held every Monday from 1: 30 pm to 2: 30 pm at the Soufriere Primary School.

The club will feature the classes on several aspects regarding Reading. The student will be taught reading Fluency, comprehension, vocabulary Building, and library Orientation. There will be free Tutoring. Denise Charles extended gratitude to the sponsors and stated,” Thanks be to God and to Our Sponsors.”
