Roseau, Dominica: In order to promote the tourism sector of the Commonwealth of Dominica, the government is working tirelessly and gaining appraisal at the international level as well.
In the recent days, Denise Charles, Minister for Tourism, International Transport, and Maritime Initiatives, Lisa Valmond, Tourism Permanent Secretary, and Benoit Bardouille, CEO DASPA attended the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the Eastern Caribbean, International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), Contracting States, on the North American, Central American, and Caribbean (NACC), Systemic Assistance Programme (SAP) for the upliftment of the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA) in Miami, United States, May 12th to 13th, 2022.
The Eastern Caribbean States collaboratively expressed their commitment and support for the strengthening activities for the ECCAA, reflecting the current challenges in this endeavour, and the need to support activities such as in the legislation area, funding, operations and other CAA sustainability matters.
The major highlights from the meeting are outlined by Denise Charles that are as follows:
- Status of the North American, Central American, and Caribbean (NACC) Regional Office Systemic Assistance Programme (SAP) for the Strengthening of the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA).
- Review of Key Milestones and Activities in the tourism sector for 2022.
- The Corrective Action Plan (CAP) to address the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) International Aviation Safety Assessment Program (IASA) audit.
- Follow up on the Corrective Action Plan stemmed from the 2019 ICAO Audit to the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).
- Aviation Security Update on the Improvement of ECCAA Member States’ Aviation Security System and development of coordination mechanisms.
