Dominica commissions newly rehabilitated Delices, Morne Jaune Primary School

On May 11, 2022, the government formally handed over the schools to the authorities and allowed them to enter the schools, which are now completely functional.

Roseau, Dominica: The government of the Commonwealth of Dominica has announced the completion of the rehabilitation project of the schools. The Government of Dominica commissioned the newly rehabilitated Delices Primary School on Wednesday, May 11, 2022. 

On May 11, 2022, the government formally handed over the schools to the authorities and allowed them to enter the schools, which are now completely functional. 

The EC$1 million project was funded by the Government of Canada through the Caribbean Development Bank and the Government of Dominica as part of the Dominica Climate Resilience and Restoration Project.

The project included new classroom and administrative blocks, library, cafeteria, auditorium and washroom facilities.

Further, the government of Dominica also provided an update on Morne Jaune Primary School and stated it is also fully functional to wlecome the students and teachjers to attend the classes in the new building of the school. 

Students of the Morne Jaune Primary School are attending classes in new and improved settings. The rehabilitated school plant was formally handed over on Wednesday, May 11.

New features include additional classrooms, early childhood center, library, auditorium, Home Economics Room and improved washroom facilities.

Further, High Commissioner Lilian Chatterjee also participated in the handover ceremonies for the newly reconstructed Delices Primary School and Morne Jaune Primary School in #Dominica, funded by #Canada, Caribbean Development Bank and the Government of Dominica. 

In the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in 2017, #Canada provided $9.25M to support resilient reconstruction skills training and to restore five primary schools as part of $100M pledge towards reconstruction and resilience in the #Caribbean.

One of the resident named Fernanda George stated,”Congrats to the Government of Dominica We on the South. East deserve the best Although we are small in population . JESUS CHRIST had only twelve Diciples yet he accomplìshed.. great job Ministry of Eduçation. Alot more to be done.”
