Dominica: Castle Bruce Secondary School advances into finals of U15 Football tournament
Roseau, Dominica: Castle Bruce Secondary School is through to the final in the U15 Division of the Sports Division Secondary Schools Football Competition in the Commonwealth of Dominica. In Semifinal 1 at the Stock Farm Complex on Tuesday, 24th January 2023, a last-minute winning goal by Alison Gasper secured Castle Bruce Secondary School’s spot in the final.
Sports Division of Commonwealth of Dominica, through its Facebook Page, shared the update of the teams that will play in the Secondary Schools Football Championship finals.
Castle Bruce Secondary School continued their perfect run in the U15 Division with their fourth consecutive victory to the finals. Saint Mary’s Academy playing their best game for the season, was heartbroken in the 69 th minute of play in the 70 minutes match by Alison Gasper when his powerful shot from outside the penalty area took a deflection and eluded the Saint Mary’s Academy Goalkeeper for the winner.
Kimani Rodney had put Castle Bruce Secondary ahead in the first half before Ajay Bellot, captain of Saint Mary’s Academy, equalized from the penalty spot to go into the half locked at one all.
In the second half, both teams went to each other, searching for the winner. When it looked like extra time would be needed, Alison Gasper came up with the winner to spark the celebration of his teammates and fans who came out to support the School.
A late winner by the Dominica Grammar School captain sent the Dominica Grammar School into the finals of the Sports Division Secondary Schools Football Competition on Tuesday, 24th January 2023, in the U15 Division.
Isaiah Thomas Secondary School’s undeafeated run in the season was brought to a halt when they were defeated by the Dominica Grammar School in their semifinal matchup at the StockFarm Complex.
The match was a very aggressive and emotional one but was played for the most part within the laws and Spirit of the game.
Both teams find it difficult to create any clear-cut chances during the run of play as their defences held strong throughout the game.
It was Dominica Grammar School Captain Chance Marshall who stole the spotlight with a superb Direct Freekick goal from the edge of the penalty box in the dying minutes of the match, giving the Isaiah Thomas Secondary School Goalkeeper no chance, sparking a celebration amongst their players and fans as they made it to another final in Secondary Schools football.
Sports Division Dominica extended congratulations to the Isaiah Thomas Secondary School on their good run in the U15 Division.
