Dominica hosts the inaugural American Canadian School of Medicine White Coat Ceremony Class of 2027 on Sunday. The school is all set to open its door in September 2023, as 50 students have enrolled so far.

Roseau, Dominica: Dominica hosted the inaugural American Canadian School of Medicine White Coat Ceremony Class of 2027 on Sunday. The school is all set to open its door in September 2023, as 50 students have enrolled so far. 

President of Dominica- Charles Savarin, Roland Royer- Minister of Agriculture, Cozier Frederick- Minister of Health, Carey M James, President of ACSOM, Ramin Ahmadi, Dean of ACSOM and Jeff Wong, M.D., Faculty and Senior Advisor to the Dean on Education, Curriculum and Faculty Development attended the ceremony.

During the ceremony, Carey M James, President and Chief Executive Office of the medical school, said that the American Canadian school of Medicine has been founded as a private non-profit institution with a social mission.

He said, ”We are physician-led and student focused who are working to educate physicians. Our mission is to improve health care in Dominica.”

He said that Dominica has proven to be an exceptional location for medical education and their purpose-built Medical Campus. American Canadian School of medicine’s partnership with the government amplifies their impacts as Bridges resources for their shared mission for advancing Health Care. 

Ramin Ahmadi- Dean of American Canadian School of Medicine (ACSOM) said that they stand on the threshold of a new era in medical education era characterized by Innovation compassion and unwavering commitment to Healing Humanity. 

He said,” We have built this medical school upon the Bedrock of collaboration bringing together the finest Minds in Academia and the dedication of a Faculty that was trained for several years to deliver this unique and modern curriculum.

The government of Dominica has been making preparation for the commencement of the American Canadian School of Medicine in September 2023. The aim of the school is to educate physicians and upgrade the primary care global health systems. 

The commitment of the school is to practise the healthcare in underserved communities. The school will also promote the unique and diverse learning environment. It will develop outstanding students
