Castries, Saint Lucia: Victories were recorded for District 2 WARRIORS and District 7 BLASTERS as the 2023 MINISTRY OF YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AND SPORTS CPL/Saint Lucia LUCIA KINGS SCHOOLS UNDER 19 T-20 X-PLOSION continued on Thursday July 6 at the Gros Islet Playing Field.

In the morning game, District 2 WARRIORS completed a hard fought 21 run win over District 3 THRASHERS. District 2 WARRIORS batting first after winning the toss made 145 for 5 in their quota of 20 overs with captain Ryan Goodman making 46, Isaiah Jones 31, Tristan Scholar 13 not out and Shakim Jacobie 12 not out.

The wicket takers for District 3 THRASHERS were, Darvin Forde, Kaylum Thomas, Leon Alexander and Elijah Charles with 1 wicket each.

In reply, District 3 THRASHERS was dismissed for 124 in 15.2 overs with Johnathan Daniel making 24, Leon Alexander 23 and Kensley Paul 11.

The pick of the bowlers for District 2 WARRIORS were right arm leg spinners Kaylan Neptune with 4 for 18 in 4 overs and Isaiah Jones 3 for 33 in 4 overs.

The other wicket takers were, Khalil St Hill and Merkenry St Luce with 1 wicket each.

RESULT: DISTRICT 2 WARRIORS DEFEATED DISTRICT 3 THRASHERS BY 21 RUNS.

In the afternoon match, District 7 BLASTERS enjoyed a comfortable 7; wicket victory over District 6 HAMMERS. District 6 HAMMERS batting first made 124 for 8 in their allotment of 8 overs with Tyler Venner making 28 not out, Jaiquan Sam 18, Jayxan Justin 16 and Shealawn Daniel 12.

Bowling for District 7 BLASTERS, Vishal Singh 3 for 31 in 4 overs and 1 wicket each to Amarni Serieux, Aaron St Clair, Ashton Alexander and Joshua Cepal.

In reply, District 7 led by a near unbeaten century from Ashton Alexander easily got to their target finishing on 128 for 3 in 14.4 overs. The right handed elegant stroke maker Ashton Alexander made a very entertaining 99 not out with 12 fours and 7 sixes in 45 balls at a strike rate of 220.

Jousha Cepal lent good support with 13. The wicket takers for District 6 HAMMERS were, Jaiquan Sam, Shealawn Daniel and Jeanille Williams with 1 wicket each.

RESULT: District 7 BLASTERS DEFEATED DISTRICT 6 HAMMERS BY 7 WICKETS.

The final ‘preliminary group stage’ matches take place on Friday July 7 with 2 highly anticipated matches at the Gros Islet Playing Field.

In the 10:00am match, District 1 STRIKERS clashes with District 2 WARRIORS and at 2:00pm District 5 ENFORCERS will be locked in battle with District 6 HAMMERS.
