Denzil Douglas to represent St Kitts and Nevis at State Funeral Service of Queen Elizabeth II

Former Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of St Kitts and Nevis- Denzil Douglas, will represent the twin-island Federation at the State Funeral Service of the Late, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. 

St Kitts and Nevis: Former Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of St Kitts and Nevis- Denzil Douglas, will represent the twin-island Federation at the State Funeral Service of the Late, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. 

The State Funeral will be held on Monday, September 19, at Westminster Abbey in London, United Kingdom. 

Dr Denzil L Douglas said that it was indeed an honour to represent the Federation at Her Majesty’s State Funeral Service. He mentioned, “RIP Queen Elizabeth ll.” 

Queen Elizabeth II took her last breath on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at the age of 96. She reigned as the longest-serving monarch of London. She died at the Scottish estate after ruling the country for around 70 years. Queen Elizabeth witnessed the administration of the 15 prime ministers in the country. 

The family of the Queen was gathered at the Scottish estate where she had spent much of the summer as the doctors showed huge concerns for her health.

Coming to the throne in 1952, the Queen witnessed enormous changes in society and worked according to them.

Denzil Douglas joined other leaders to mourn the passing away of the Queen. He took to social media and stated, “The Government and People of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis join with Governments and People around the world to mourn the passing and to celebrate the life, service and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll.” 

He added that her reign was marked by dignity, duty, quiet faith and piety.

While paying prayers for her peaceful soul, Denzil Douglas noted, “We offer payers to the Royal Family, Government and People of the UK and those who love her.” 

Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis- Dr Terrance Drew, also issued a statement on HM Queen Elizabeth ll’s death. Various Caribbean leaders will join the funeral of Queen Elizabeth in London.
